For 20 years I have worked in the recruitment industry. I've covered all aspects of recruitment including Industrial/Office/Engineering and Technical.
Starting as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant I never thought back then that I would end up owning my own recruitment agency. I opened QDOS Recruits Ltd in February 2016.
This was the biggest decision I have ever made in my life but the main reason I believed it would work was that I truly believed QDOS Recruits Ltd could be different.
Our office in Bridgnorth is an easy commute to areas such as Birmingham/Worcester/Shrewsbury/Telford and The Black Country. All our staff are sourced locally, in fact my days are spent more out and about that in my own office.
"Local people for local jobs"
I tend to meet potential candidates in coffee shops/restaurants local to the company. The great concept about this is that I get to meet them in an informal setting. I buy them a coffee and settle them down- It's amazing what you find out about people when you're in a relaxed atmosphere.
More importantly, the potential candidates know that they're meeting me for a specific job. You may have experienced it yourself- you've registered with a local recruitment agency, filled out all the forms for a job and never heard from the agency again or the agency calls in the early hours to start work days later. Believe it or not as a temporary worker myself 24 years ago, I did and its frustrating.
As I'm sure my clients will inform you I don't sell jobs- I give them the warts and all approach. The reason this works is that you are being honest with the candidate and you can gauge by people's reactions whether this is the job for them. This doesn't rubber stamp everyone but it does curb the pitfalls of recruitment.
I'm proud to say that 4 years on my business has gone from strength to strength and I have many other strategies that help my clients reach their goals.
